The pro-talks faction of United Liberation Front of Assam onĀ  Saturday reacted sharply to the lynching of one of its members Bijoy Das at Bidyapara in Goalpara district of Assam on Friday and alleged hands of illegal migrant settlers from Bangladesh in the murder.

In a statement issued to the media, ULFA (pro-talks) central publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary termed it a 'pre-planned' attack on indigenous people by the illegal migrants from Bangladesh who have settled down in various parts of Assam encroaching upon government land.

The ULFA faction stated that the incident site at Bidyapara of late became a den of criminals, anti-nationals and bigots and called upon the people of Assam to remain vigilant against such attacks on indigenous people aimed at derailing the current peace process involving the ULFA and the government of India.

The ULFA leader further pointed out that such a grave threat to identity and security to the indigenous people of the state from illegal migrants from Bangladesh justified ULFA's decision to take up arms to protect the interest of the indigenous people of the state.

The ULFA (pro-talks) member Bijoy Das and another member of the group were attacked by a mob at Bidyapara under Rangjuli police station in Goalpara district when they had gone to the market. Bijoy Das was killed in the attack while the other member managed to escape.
