British model and actress Elizabeth Hurley has denied her marriage to Indian businessman Arun Nayar has been called off saying the rumoured ceremony was never on the cards.

Hurley also says she was amused to read newspaper reports that her boyfriend had had second thoughts about marrying her.

Recent media reports have said that Nayar cancelled the planned wedding because he felt he was being treated as a "kept man."

A spokesman for Hurley said, "The marriage plans of Liz and Arun was an invention of the media and they are highly amused to be told that the wedding is now off. They are eagerly awaiting the next fictionalised installment of their riveting matrimonial plans."

"They were never getting married anyway. It's the world making it up, as usual," Hurley's sister Kate added.

The couple were last seen in India during Diwali, only months after Nayar paid his Italian ex-wife Valentina Pedroni around £625,000 in a divorce settlement.

The divorce will be finalised around the beginning of 2004 allowing 37-year-old Nayar to marry Hurley.

Meanwhile, the face of New York-based cosmetics company Estee Lauder has told friends that she is going ahead with a £25,000 holiday treat in the Caribbean as a 38th birthday present for her boyfriend.
