A Mumbai born lawyer is playing a key role in cementing business links between London and four Chinese cities.

Sarosh Zaiwalla is part of the Lord Mayor of London the Right Honourable Mr Gavyn Arthur's delegation currently touring China.

The delegation is visiting Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing, where they are scheduled to hold meetings with local municipal councils as well as financial security and banking regulatory committees.

London-based Zaiwalla, a former member of the International Court of Arbitration, Paris, said: "With the recent new special arrangements coming into force between Hong Kong and mainland China, these meetings with leading official government leaders have clarified a lot of issues.

"The Lord Mayor's access means we get very detailed insight into a fast developing situation."

Lord Mayor Mr Gavyn Arthur, the first practicing barrister to head the Corporation of London, said: "The visit focused on the Pearl River Delta, a region whose fast growth makes it important not just for Asia but also globally. International legal professionals are well-placed for help with the new business opportunities and I was very pleased to have Sarosh Zaiwalla along for his experience and expertise. His participation in the international dispute resolution meeting in Hong Kong was particularly helpful."
