Uddhav asks Sainiks to maintain peace on Babri verdict

September 21, 2010 18:12 IST

Shiv Sena executive pPresident Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday appealed to party activists to maintain peace on September 24, when the controversial Babri Masjid verdict is expected.

"The Sainiks have been instructed to maintain peace after the Babri-Ayodhya verdict and we will cooperate with the government," Uddhav said after he met party leaders to discuss the issue.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, the Sena leader said if the government was scared of the situation ahead of the verdict, then it should deploy more security like it did during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Mumbai visit and release of the movie My Name Is Khan.

Uddhav also spoke to the chief minister over the phone on the Ganesh immersion issue and said the Ayodhya verdict should not create tensions during the processions on Wednesday.
