Boon for Indian expats in UAE

Last updated on: September 23, 2004 13:51 IST
The Indian embassy and UAE Post 'EMPOST' signed an agreement on Wednesday to send passports or other documents to the applicants after consular services for a nominal fee.

Under the agreement, EMPOST will guarantee return of passports and other documents within 48 hours to any location in the UAE forĀ 10 dirhams, thus eliminating the need for applicants to come to the missions to collect them.

The agreement was signed by Indian Ambassador Sudhir Vyas and EMPOST General Manger Essa M Al Daboos. The Indian Consul General in Dubai, Yash Sinha, was also present on the occasion.

The agreement will come into effect on Friday and will benefit Indian expatriates in the UAE living outside Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
