July 30, 2012 21:23 IST

Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on Monday termed as 'baseless' reports of his or his son's alleged business links with arms dealer Abhishek Verma and alleged they were aimed at tarnishing his political image.

"These are baseless allegations against me and my son Siddhartha Tytler with the sole intention of tarnishing my

political image....I deny the allegations as totally wrong and having no base and truth," said the former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler.

The Congress leader said 'my son Siddhartha or me has no direct or indirect link with any day-to-day affairs of the business of the company G T Telecom Pvt Ltd'.

Admitting his son was merely a shareholder in GT Telecom Pvt Ltd and owned 5,000 shares of Rs 10 only, Tytler said, "No  money is received from that foreign company i e M/S Corewhip Ltd by me or my son. I want to categorically show you that the report is damaging me and my son in the eyes of the public."

He said his son Siddhartha is neither a director in the company (G T Telecom) not an authorised signatory of the company. "He has nothing to do with the operations and management of the said company or in any way responsible to the company's day-to-day affairs of business," he said.

Tytler also said he knows Abhishek Verma because of his family as his parents are former Members of Parliament.

He was reacting to a media report which claimed that Sidhhartha was under the scanner for alleged business links

with Abhishek Verma who was recently arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly trying to bribe defence officials.
