Two militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Two militants were killed in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, according to a senior police officer.

He said troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of the state police, acting on specific information about the presence of a group of militants, surrounded Pinjura village.

“The encounter is still going on. So far, two militants have been gunned down,” said the officer.

Further details about the encounter were awaited, he said.
