Two persons were killed and nine others, including three security personnel, were injured when a bomb went off in Quetta city of southwest Pakistan today, police said.

The bomb, attached to a bicycle, exploded as a Frontier Corps convoy was passing through Airport Road in Quetta, the capital of the restive Balochistan province.

Two passersby were killed instantly by the blast.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital by a rescue team, police officials said.

Some persons with serious injuries were later shifted to the Combined Military Hospital.

Officials of the bomb disposal squad said that about five to 10 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.

The blast damaged several shops and vehicles.

They said the security forces convoy was the target of the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
