Two persons were killed and three others injured when a vehicle hit a landmine in the restive Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan on Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred in Dera Bugti district. Two persons in the vehicle were killed instantly. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

Law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident but such attacks are usually blamed on Baloch nationalist groups waging a violent campaign for greater autonomy.
