Two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed and an Army jawan injured in an overnight encounter with security forces in Sopore in Kashmir, the police said on Tuesday.

The gun-battle broke out at Lalid-Sopore during search operations, 60 kms from Srinagar, on Monday evening. An army jawan was also injured in the gun-battle that was going on when the last reports came in, they said.

Security forces had on Monday killed four militants, believed to be foreigners, in the dense Hamam-Nardagan forests in Rafiabad, 65 kms from Srinagar.

An Army jawan was injured in the gun-battle. The identity of the slain militants and their group affiliation was being ascertained. Four AK 47 rifles, an under barrel grenade launcher and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
