Two persons were killed and nearly 30 others injured in incidents of violence during the second phase of panchayat elections in Rajasthan, the police said on Sunday.

In Kot village, old rivalry led two communities to clash and open fire, killing one man and injuring at least 15 people. "The deceased was identified as Vijay Meena, whose body was found near the roadside at village Monapura (near Kot), 70 km from Dausa, in the afternoon after the incident," said district Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh.

A clash also took place at Balakheda village in the district and the body of a person, identified as Padam Singh, was recovered. It was found 200 metres from the polling station, Singh said.

In another incident in Jodhpur district, over a dozen persons were injured in a clash.

"The incident occurred near a polling booth in Elalkhori village in the afternoon when two groups pelted stones at each other, leaving 14 persons injured," said Ramesh Dhaka, station house officer of Osian police station.
