Two persons were killed and nine injured when a goods train derailed near Bimlagarh railway station, about 80 km from Rourkela Monday.

Railway Police Superintendent Mahendra Pratap said the victims were travelling by the Bimlagarh-bound goods train when the accident occurred at about 1100 hrs near Bimlagarh railway station. The iron ore-laden goods train was coming from Roxy.

Pratap said the train jamped the tracks following the failure of the engine break.

While four of the injured had been admitted to the Bangamunda hospital, others were shifted to a hospital in Rourkela.

Senior railway officials had rushed to the accident site.
