Nine fishermen from Tamil Nadu had been taken into custody by the Sri Lankan navy on charges of crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.

Fisheries department officials and police said that they had received reports that the nine fishermen from Kanyakumari had been taken into custody by Lankan navy for allegedly crossing the IMBL.

"We are awaiting details," they said. President of the Innocent Fishermen's Association U Arulanandham said the fishermen had put out to sea on Sunday night and were taken into custody early on Monday.
