More than 110 vocalists and instrumentalists participated in the day-long second annual Rocky Mountain Thyagaraja Utsavam held at the at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock, south of Denver, Colorado.
The utsavam opened with the Pancharatna compositions of Saint Thyagaraja, rendered by more than 15 leading local and professional artists including Priya Hariharan, VK Arun Kumar.
Chayadevi Ramayanam opened the utsavam with the rendition of the Pancharatna (five gems)
The number of performers was double that of last year, Hariharan, founder of the Bhairavi School of Music and the chief organizer of the utsavam, said that plans were underway for a two-day show next year.
