Three cops, including an officer, and a civilian were wounded in a powerful hand grenade blast in downtown Khanyar locality of the summer capital Srinagar on Wednesday evening.
A senior police officer said militants lobbed a hand grenade at a naka party of the security forces near police station Khanyar on Wednesday evening which exploded injuring three cops and a civilian.
“The injured included a police ASI, two paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force troopers and a civilian. All injured were evacuated to hospital for treatment,” the officer said.
The area was immediately surrounded and searches were mounted as reinforcements were rushed to the area.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier in the day one army trooper was seriously wounded when suspected militants opened fire at a passing vehicle in south Kashmir Shopian district. The injured was rushed to hospital.
Hizbul Mujaheedin outfit in a statement to a local news agency claimed responsibility for that attack.
