A total of 33 people, including 23 pro-Taliban militants, were killed in two separate incidents of violence in the restive Khyber tribal region of northwest Pakistan on Friday, officials said.
Eight security personnel and 23 militants were killed in a clash in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, which borders Afghanistan, officials were quoted as saying by TV news channels.
Two members of a 'lashkar' or pro-government militia were killed and two more injured when a vehicle was targeted with a remote controlled bomb in Tirah Valley, the officials said. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
