Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, fondly known as the 'People's President', was laid to rest in his hometown Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. The former president, who died of cardiac arrest in Shillong on Monday evening, was accorded full state honours in presence of PM Narendra Modi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several other leaders and dignitaries from around the world.
