Slamming the Centre for 'not making any serious attempt' to stop racist attacks on Indians in Australia, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Monday warned against allowing cricketers from that country to play in the third season of IPL beginning in March.
"Our warning to the government is still there. We will not allow Australian cricketers to play here in the wake of racist attacks on Indians down under," Thackeray said.
"The government has not made any serious attempt to stop racist attacks on Indians in Australia and it shows lack of seriousness in the foreign policy," he told reporters after felicitating actors of the national award winning Marathi film `Jogwa' at his residence 'Matoshree' in suburban Bandra.
In an editorial in Sena mouthpiece `Saamna' on January 13, Thackeray had called for a ban on Australian cricketers from playing in Maharashtra.
