Terrorists attacked the residence of the Sopore police chief in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night by hurling grenades and opening fire. However, no one was injured in the attack that occurred at midnight, a senior police officer said.

The terrorists fired four rifle grenades followed by indiscriminate

firing at the heavily guarded residence of the Sopore police chief, causing damage to the building. The guards returned the fire and the explosions and the firing triggered panic in the town, the police informed.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack in the town, nearly 55 km from Srinagar.
