10 Years On, When Gaddafi Was Killed

October 20, 2011.

The day Muammar Gaddafi, who had ruled Libya with an iron hand since 1969, was spotted hiding in a drain in his hometown of Sirte by rebel fighters and brutally murdered.

The dictator's death did not bring peace to Libya which continues in a state of mutinous tumult with rival warlords fighting each other for supremacy.
