February 01, 2012 14:29 IST

The Centre has said that it will convene a meeting of political parties of Andhra Pradesh to discuss the Telangana issue only when it gets the views from all of them.

Home Minister P Chidambaram said four political parties in Andhra Pradesh -- Congress, Telugu Desam Party, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and YSR Congress -- are yet to make up their mind about their stand on Telangana.

"As I said four of the eight political parties have to tell me that they are ready to give their final views," he told media persons in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.

Chidambaram was asked when the central government will convene a meeting of eight political parties in Andhra Pradesh to discuss the Telangana issue.

Asked whether any deadline has been fixed for holding the meeting, the home minister said, "I think you should ask them (political parties) when they will give their views".

Bharatiya Janata Party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India-Marxist have already taken a stand on the Telangana issue but the four others were yet to make up their mind.

Two earlier meetings of the political parties were held on January 5, 2010 and January 6, 2011.
