Blaming Jammu and Kashmir's political dynasties for the state's backwardness and corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday said the time has come when the people themselves have decided to teach these families and their parties a lesson.

On campaign trail in Banihal constituency in support of its party candidate Shoukat Deng, BJP president Amit Shah accused the families of Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Farooq Abdullah of  keeping J&K backward and under-developed that it achieved the distinction of becoming the second most corrupt state in the country.

"After Independence, the two families mostly ruled the state and the time has come when the people themselves have decided to teach these families and their parties a lesson and it is going to be a reality after the elections", Shah told a public rally.

"The Abdullahs and Muftis, along with the Congress, have destroyed J&K. They exploited it for their own gains", he said. Shah said that the BJP would work towards making the state top ranking in development and ending corruption and dynastic rule of these families.

Shah, said that after 30 years, the country has a government with full majority and Narendra Modi is a leader who could be trusted and who had proved his worth in Gujarat as chief minister.

"The people wanted a change and they did so by using the power of their votes", he said adding this wave was not going to stop and "it is visible in Jammu and Kashmir also, where the people have suffered a lot during the past over six decades and want to give a chance to the BJP," he said.

He praised the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government for bringing down petrol prices 12 times during last five months and this is beginning of the good days.

Shah said the BJP was committed to checking price rise, providing good governance and concentrating on mitigating the sufferings of weaker sections, farmers, refugees, people residing in border areas besides exploring job avenues for unemployed educated youth and ending discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh.

He appealed the people in these two constituencies to vote and support BJP candidates and in return get assured of starting a new chapter in Jammu and Kashmir.
