Telugu Desam Party legislators hailing from Telangana region have urged the state government to officially celebrate Hyderabad State Liberation Day on September 17. A delegation of TDP MLAs led by Nagam Janardhana Reddy and K Hareeshwar Reddy met Chief Minister K Rosaiah at his residence on Tuesday night and submitted a memorandum listing their demands.
"The chief minister's response has not been favourable. We will meet at our party office and decide on the future course of action," Nagam told newsmen at the end of their meeting with Rosaiah. The TDP legislators also registered their strong protest with the chief minister over the manner in which police personnel blocked their entry into the state police headquarters in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening when they went to submit a memorandum
"This is not the way to treat MLAs. We are not anti-social elements nor are we carrying bombs or explosives. They could have searched our vehicles and let us in," the MLAs told the chief minister.
The issue would be referred to the Privileges Committee of the state legislature, Nagam said. The TDP leaders went to the DGP's office this evening to submit a petition seeking action against Telangana Rashtriya Samiti and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders responsible for the attack on N Chandrababu Naidu's convoy in Ranga Reddy district.
As DGP K Aravinda Rao was away in Bengaluru, Nagam called him over phone and told him about their demand. As they were prevented from going into the DGP's office, the TDP leaders affixed their petition to the office main entrance gate.
