A Cairo-Mumbai Egypt Air flight with 124 passengers on board landed under emergency conditions at the Mumbai airport on Wednesday due to a suspected fire in the cargo hold of the aircraft.
The aircraft landed safely on Wednesday morning and all the passengers were deplaned, a Mumbai International Airport Limited spokesperson said.
"Full emergency was declared at 0725 hours for the Egypt Air Cairo-Mumbai flight MS 968 with 124 passengers and seven crew on board the aircraft due to suspected fire in the cargo hold of the Boeing 738 aircraft," the spokesperson said.
Passengers were disembarked safely and all cargo was removed, the official said.
Later, an inspection of the cargo was carried out and no fire was found, the official added.
