A Vaishali court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against film star and Managing Director of Vijeta Films Ajay Singh alias Sunny Deol in a cheque bouncing case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Ram Chadra Das had issued the warrant on May 19 on the complaint of a Bihar-based film distributor.

Arvind Kumar Chowdhury allegedly handed a cheque of Rs 20 lakh in favour of the MD, Vijeta Films on August 2003 for the distribution rights of the film Gandhi, which the company is producing.

Subsequently, he sent a legal notice to Deol to which he did not get any response.

On March 13, 2004, Choudhury moved the CJM's court complaining that Vijeta Films had deliberately issued a dud cheque and that it amounted to fraud.

The CJM asked the Town Police Station in Hajipur to institute a case against Vijeta Films under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code, 138 of the Negotiable Instrument Act.

On May 19, he issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Deol.
