Fidayeen Islam, the suicide bomber squad of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, has claimed that more than 300 fidayeen (suicide bombers) have been sent to various parts of Pakistan to target the Shia and Bralvi religious centres.
Last week, in one such incident at Sakhi Sarwar Shrine in Dera Ghazi Khan, 42 people were killed and more than 100 sustained injuries when suicide bombers attacked a gathering of Shias.
Shakir Ullah Shakir, the fidayeen squad spokesperson told rediff.com from an undisclosed location, "We are targeting Shias and Bralvis as they always supported anti-Taliban forces in the country. We have dispatched a large number of bombers to high-profile targets across the country."
Umar Fidaye, a suicide bomber, who was caught alive from inside the Sakhi Sarwar Shrine in Dera Ghazi Khan, claimed that up to 350 suicide bombers were being trained in Mir Ali, North Waziristan.
Commenting over his claim, Shakir said, "Yes, we have trained more than 300 fidayeenin north Waziristan. A majority of them have been sent to different parts of the country. These Fidayeen would not allow the Shias and other infidels to live with peace."
