In 84 TN constituencies, it's a straight fight between DMK and AIADMK

The ruling Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam and opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will lock horns in 84 constituencies in the April 13 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

While AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa would face N Anand, a novice in the electoral arena, at Srirangam, DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi will take on Rajendran of the AIADMK at Tiruvarur. The AIADMK has fielded Saidai Duraiswamy, a known face in the political circles, against Karunanidhi's son and Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin at Kolathur constituency.

The AIADMK will directly contest against the Congress in 38 constituencies, while it will oppose the Pattali Makkal Katchi in 21 constituencies. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, an ally of the DMK, will take on the AIADMK in eight constituencies. The AIADMK will face Kongunadu Munnettra Kazhagam and Indian Union Muslim League in six and three constituencies respectively.

Actor-politician Vijaykant's Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam is involved in a straight fight against the DMK in 18 constituencies and will take on the Congress in 15 constituencies.

The DMDK is also locking horns with the PMK in six constituencies. The Communist Party of India-Marxist and the Communist Party of India are contesting against the DMK in four and seven constituencies respectively. Both the parties are facing the Congress in six constituencies.
