At least seven small bombs have gone off in urban areas across Spain, following warnings from ETA Basque separatists, reports the BBC.

'Blasts were reported in Leon, Avila, Santillana del Mar, Ciudad Real, Malaga and Alicante. The Basque newspaper Gara said it had received two calls from people claiming to be from ETA, warning of seven bombs on Monday - which was a public holiday to mark the 26th anniversary of the passage of the Spanish constitution.

The

police had evacuated the areas listed by the callers, but officials in the northern Spanish coastal town of Santillana del Mar said some people were wounded in the blast in their town. There are no reports yet of injuries elsewhere, the BBC said.

Monday's co-ordinated attacks followed five explosions at petrol stations in Madrid on Friday, which followed a similar pattern of a telephoned warning to Gara with details of the targets, allowing police to clear the areas.
