June 16, 2014 22:41 IST

Senior Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal on Monday courted controversy when he sought to reject claims of an alleged rape victim that she was abducted, saying even a calf could not be forcibly taken.

"You cannot even forcibly drag a calf...," Agarwal told PTI when asked to respond on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh ruled by his party and the allegations of a woman that she was abducted and gang-raped.

He said he was not raising a question mark on the victim but only pointing out that it was difficult to abduct a person.

Three men allegedly abducted and gang-raped a 32-year-old woman in Bisauli area in Badaun. One of the suspects is the son of a police officer.

Police said the victim was abducted on Friday after she went out to buy medicines. She was released on Saturday after which she reported the incident.
