The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh on Friday expelled its three leaders in Etah, including a former member of Legislative Assembly, for their involvement in anti-party activities.

"Those expelled included former MLA Raghuvir Singh, Lakhan Singh and village head of Naraura, Pappu Diwakar," party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.

The SP is fighting indiscipline in its ranks since the time it came to power. In a month it has fired several party leaders for indiscipline and anti-party activities.

Etah, from where SP started its Assembly poll campaign, is a strong hold of the party and hometown of its supreme Mulayam Singh Yadav.

On March 21, Mulayam had talked tough to the party leaders and asked them to keep their supporters "in control".
