Sonia, Home Minister Shinde visit Assam relief camps

United Progress Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde arrived in violence-hit Assam to take a stock of the situation and meet displaced people in relief camps in Kokrajhar and Dhubri.
After meeting relief camp inmates at Titaguri High School in Kokrajhar around 11.45 am, Gandhi told the media that the government would address the security concern raised by relief camp inmates who are keen to return home.
She said that during her 15-minute interaction with relief camp inmates there were no complaints of shortage of aid. "The relief distribution has been smooth, there is no complain about it. Two children were not well and doctors were attending them. Most the camp inmates were willing to go back home provided they are provided proper security by the government. The state government said it would take little more time to arrange for proper security."
Apart from Shinde, Sonia was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Bodoland Territorial Council chief executive member Hagrama Mohilary and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhubaneswar Kalita. She also visited another relief camp at Deborgaon in Kokrajhar district before proceeding to Dhubri.
