Congress president Sonia Gandhi is likely to return on Thursday night after her surgery for an undisclosed ailment in an undisclosed country.

She is returning to India after more than a month and is being accompanied by her daughter Priyanka, sources in the know said.

The 64-year-old Gandhi had left the country on August 2 and underwent a surgery around August 4 and 5.

Immediately after her departure, Congress had made a brief announcement saying Gandhi had been recently diagnosed with a medical condition and was advised surgery.

The Congress president had handed over reins of the party to a group of four comprising Rahul Gandhi and senior leaders A K Antony, Ahmed Patel and Janardan Dwivedi to look after party affairs.

Rahul returned recently to India after attending to her ailing mother.
