Y S Rajasekhara Reddy took charge of his office at the state secretariat, almost two weeks after he had taken oath as the Chief Minister for the second consecutive term. He arrived at the Secretariat at around 0700 hrs to a tumultuous welcome by the officials, employees and took the office amid the prayers by the religious heads of different communities.
The Chief Minister's chamber at the 6th Floor of C Block echoed with the vedic hymns chanted by the Pundits from the Tirumala and Srisailam temples followed by the prayers by Christian and Muslim religious heads. Earlier he also offered prayers at a Hanuman Temple near the Secretariat.
The CM said that his dream and commitment now was to make Andhra Pradesh a role model in good governance, effective delivery mechanism, completion of projects and implementation of programs. "Transparency, efficiency, accountability, responsibility and effective delivery should be our five word mantra", he told the officials warning them that the people will not tolerate any failure.
"People want results. They want the benefits of the government schemes to reach them at the earliest. They don't want middlemen. They don't want to tolerate any delay, corruption and nepotism. We have to work to their expectations", he said. YSR, who till now was working from his official residence and camp office, signed the files pertaining to grant more funds for the seeds and fertilizers subsidy and new guidelines for effective disbursement of scholarships among the SC,ST, BC and minority students.
