Brazil's loftiest teen is set to become the world's tallest bride after her compact fiancee popped the big question.
Aspiring model Elisany da Cruz Silva -- who is a staggering 6 ft 8ins tall -- has been dating 5ft 4ins Francinaldo da Silva Carvalho for more than three years. Though Elisany still draws stares for onlookers, Francinaldo says he is proud to show her off. The couple has been living together for a year now and are looking forward to an elaborate engagement.

Little green men from outer space can be Catholics too! Pope Francis joked that he’d welcome Martians into the fold and baptise them. Asking Catholics to be open, he said, “If, for example, tomorrow an expedition of Martians came to us here and one said ‘I want to be baptised!’, what would happen?” Clarifying that he really was talking about aliens, the Pope said: “Martians, right? Green, with long noses and big ears, like in children’s drawings.”

Chinese beekeeper Ruan Liangming set a new world record, allowing himself to be coated in bees for a whopping 53 minutes and 34 seconds. Liangming, who wasn’t even stung during the stunt, shattered the old mark by over 30 minutes. He is now the owner of multiple bee-related world records, having set the mark for wearing the heaviest mantle of bees (136 pounds) a few years ago. Ruan says he has become immune to bee venom during his 19 years as a beekeeper, and that his feat only left him feeling tired and itchy.

A man in Kent had his sound equipment worth £3000 confiscated by the council after a neighbour complained about him blaring Celine Dion's power ballads. Gareth Davies, a former window salesman from Kent, claims he is being victimised simply for listening to guilty pleasures.He will be able to apply for the return of the rest of his gear after 28 days, So his heart may still well go on after all.

Diners wanting a cheap date, who is also a great listener, should look no further than this Japanese restaurant --which gives lonely diners a free stuffed toy. The Moomin House Café offers solo customers the company of a fictional Moomin animal while they eat. There are a selection of toys available to keep diners company. A similar cafe is also opened in New York, United States.

Krispy Kreme, the world’s famous doughnut maker, revealed the world’s most expensive doughnut in London. It is worth £1,000 (Rs 98,000) and is made with 23 carat gold, 500-year-old Cognac and took three days to create. Inside the huge donut is a Dom Perignon vintage 2002 champagne jelly and on top is a raspberry and Chateau d’Yquem crème. It is glazed with passion fruit and gilded with edible 24-carat gold leaf and 23-carat gold-dusted chocolate lotus flowers and edible diamonds.

A Singapore housewife got the fright of her life when she was bitten by a python hiding in her toilet bowl. Noraslinda Asat was terrifyingly attacked by the 6-foot long serpent after sitting down in her master bedroom's bathroom last month. The 34-year-old reportedly felt a ‘sharp pain’ --which she soon discovered was coming from the fangs of the snake that had clamped on to her right thigh. Asat was rushed to hospital for treatment but discharged soon after.

A Japanese company is offering a range of bizarre mouthpieces and contraptions to help reduce the signs of ageing. The website, Japan Trend Shop sells the items, which are said to tighten the cheeks while doing breathing exercise and therefore hiding wrinkles.
Users are advised to insert the mouthpiece and make mouth movements with it for three minutes a day. To get the best results the instructions say 'to make vowel sounds out loud over and over again'.

A New York man has filed a lawsuit demanding what is believed to be the largest amount of compensation ever after he was bitten by a dog. Anton Purisima, 62, is suing a long list of defendants including the City of New York, Au Bon Pain and Kmart, for $2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. That’s 2 followed by 36 zeroes.
Over the course of his 22-page lawsuit, Purisima claims that his middle finger was bitten off by a ‘rabies-infected’ dog on a city bus; before a Chinese couple took unauthorised photos of him as he was being treated at a local hospital. Also in the rambling and often incoherent lawsuit, Purisima complains that he is routinely overcharged for coffee at LaGuardiaAirport. The suit claims the pain and other additional damages he suffered ‘cannot be repaired by money’ and are ‘therefore priceless'.

You can’t get more metal than this! German metal band Compressorhead are made up of three 5-foot tall robots, and brought down the house when they took the stage at the Robot Ball exhibition at ARTPLAY Center for Design in Moscow. The world’s only robot rock band comprises four-armed Stickboy on drums, Bones on bass, and 79-digited Fingers plays the guitar.

Standards of dress have been slipping in Pikeville, Tennessee, and the city’s elected leaders mean to do something about it. Mayor Phil Cagle has introduced an ordinance that will soon see anyone wearing their pants ‘more than three inches below the top of the hips’ fined for public indecency. When asked about the new ordinance, Cagle said, “'All I know is we just don’t want them running around half-naked on our streets.”
