Holi may have come, soaked millions of revellers in a riot of colours and gone in March. But over the last couple of years, the Brooklyn borough of New York City has kept the party going.
This re-imagined event, held on May 3, incorporated art and music with traditional Hindu values such as unity, explains Jack Langerman, the organiser.
“We were celebrating universal values that even someone who is not a Hindu can celebrate. There was a beautiful vibe and energy that was expanded to a group of people who appreciate it.”
He added, “Holi NYC was a joyous celebration of the coming of spring. It was a night of revelry full of DJs, bands, delicious food, and great people -- a time when social barriers collapsed, and all were united in joyful celebration.”
