Days after top Indian and Pakistani defence officials held talks on de-escalation of troops on Siachen glacier, Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee would undertake his first visit to the world's highest battlefield on Wednesday.
This would be his first visit to the glacier after taking over the reins of office. The minister is likely to visit most of the forward posts on the Saltoro ridge flanking the 72-km long glacier.
Mukherjee would address troops at the base camp, after landing at Thoise airfield, and also visit jawans at the newly set up state-of-art hospital at Partapur.
