The Gujarat high court on Monday posted for Tuesday the hearing on the bail application of Surendra Shetty, father of actress Shilpa Shetty.
The Surat police have registered a case of alleged extortion against him and two others.
Shetty moved the high court after a local court in Surat rejected his anticipatory bail plea on May 30.
The Surat court had also turned down Surendra's plea for a 15-day stay on its order to enable the accused to file an appeal in the Gujarat high court.
Shilpa's parents - Surendra and Sunanda - had allegedly hired a gangster to recover Rs 80 lakh (Rs eight million) from the owner of Praful Sarees as part of the dues owed to their daughter who had modelled for the company a few years back.
Police claim to have recorded telephonic conversations between a gangster and the victim Pankaj Agrawal as well as between Shilpa's parents and Agrawal.
Surendra has, however, denied the allegations saying the conversation was fabricated.
