A colossus among Hindustani classical singers, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi passed away on Monday morning at Pune's Sahyadri Hospital after prolonged illness.

The 90-year-old music marvel lifted listeners to a divine experience with his singing.

Honoured with the country's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was perhaps one of the last surviving titans of the present generation of Hindustani vocalists.
