Shriomani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee president Avtar Singh Makkar said in Amritsar on Tuesday that die hard efforts will be applied to save the life of death row convict Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar.
In a release issued, Makkar said the SGPC would bring the entire episode of Bhullar in the notice of United Nation's Human Right Commission in written form.
Makkar said on June 20 the SGPC would submit memorandum to Governor Punjab to save Bhullar from death row.
He said the decision of Union's ministry of home affairs, on whose recommendations the President of India rejected the mercy petition of Bhullar has sparked a wave of criticism among Sikh community.
Bhullar, a member of Khalistan Liberation Force, was sentenced to death by a trial court on August 25, 2001, for plotting terror attacks on Punjab SSP Sumedh Singh Saini in 1991 and current All India Anti-Terrorist Front Chairman M S Bitta, the then Youth Congress chief, in 1993.
Makkar said that five members committee of SGPC members will meet Sikh lawyer HS Phoolka in Delhi to discuss the legal aspects of the case and engage five topmost advocates practicing in the Supreme Court of India to save Bhullar.
"Very shortly fresh second mercy petition will be filed before the President of India," said Makkar.
