A seven-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped at a park in South Delhi's Tigri area on Saturday evening. The area comes under Neb Sarai police station.

The victim's uncle Om Prakash claimed the girl was playing in a nearby park when some boys lured her and took to another park close by and gang-raped her. They left her bleeding in the park, he said, adding that the family came to know about the incident after some passersby identified the girl and informed them.

The victim was rushed to the Aall India Institute of Medical Sciences’ trauma centre, where her condition is stated to be serious, said her uncle, adding that a case was lodged with the Neb Sarai police station.

Meanwhile, following the complaint, the police arrested one of the accused, while rest of them are at large.

The victim's kin alleged that police was acting in tardy manner and failed to arrest other accused

An uneasy calm prevailed in the area following the incident.

Deoli Member of Legislative Assembly  Prakash Jarwal said there was no policing in the area that resulted in frequent crimes.

"I have visited the family. The main accused has been arrested, while police are looking out for other accused. Police can stop such incidents, but I am sorry to say that such incidents are increasing. I hold police responsible for this," said Jarwal.
