Seven eminent Indian-origin persons from across the world would receive the Community Service Award from the GOPIO Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin at its annual convention in New Delhi next month.
The awardees are Rajen Ramnath of the Netherlands, Datuk Vinod Sekhar of Malaysia, Lachmandas Pagarani from Dubai, , Prabhakar (now living in Kerala), Ramesh Gupta from the US, and special awards to Dr Jagat Motwani of the USA and Issac John from Dubai.
"We at GOPIO feel privileged to recognise a few Non Resident Indians/Persons of Indian Origin who have contributed significantly to their respective countries of adoption as well as to India, and have also contributed to the remarkable resurgence of India," said Lord Diljit Rana, president of GOPIO International.
"The award is a reflection of their remarkable accomplishments and commendable services. By honouring such people, we hope that their example will motivate more NRIs/PIOs to serve overseas Indian community and the people of India with their service and generosity," said GOPIO chairman, Inder Singh.
The award would be presented at a function in New Delhi on January 6, which would be presided by the Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi.
