Seven persons were injured in security force firing at Bemina in the curfew bound summer capital Srinagar on Friday evening.

The injured who included Showkat Bakshi, vice president of pro-independence Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and four women were immediately evacuated to Soura medical institute for treatment.

A police spokesman said mobs defied the curfew restrictions and indulged in stone pelting on the security forces in the Bemina locality and in an effort to control the situation, three persons were injured.

Friday's incident has come after a brief lull in Kashmir violence which has claimed 105 lives since June 11 and left hundreds wounded.
