The Bharatiya Janata Party is unlikely to launch an agitation over the Ram Sethu issue, but will extend total support to the Ram Sethu Raksha Manch, spearheading a movement against the breaching of the ridge, sources said.
Sources said the three-day national executive at Bhopal, commencing from September 21, will take a decision in this regard.
Former Union minister Murli Manohar Joshi will present the resolution at the executive and will be the point-person of the BJP on the issue.
Joshi, being a former minister in charge of oceanography in the NDA government, has been handling the contentious issue from the beginning. He had also moved a resolution in the last national executive in Delhi held in June.
The manch is headed by former Asian Development Bank expert Kalyana Raman, who has been leading the movement against the breaching of the Ram Sethu.
