Sena, BJP to contest Maharashtra polls together: Udhav

October 04, 2007 23:16 IST

Shiv Sena executive president Udhav Thackeray said the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party would be contesting the 2009 Assembly polls in Maharashtra together.

Speaking at a function in Mumbai on Thursday evening to felicitate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Udhav jocularly remarked that the BJP-Sena alliance was "not glued by fevicol, but by the strong bond of Hindutva."

To buttress the good relation between BJP and Sena, Udhav quoted the song from Sholay 'Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge'.

Downplaying the rift between the two parties on the presidential elections, Udhav said it was "nothing serious" and all was now well between them.
