Security forces on Tuesday battled with Maoists in a jungle near Basadera village in the Naxal-hit Ghatsila area of East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.

The encounter started after Maoists shot at security forces patrolling the village.

Two landmines and electric wires were recovered from the spot after the encounter, the police said.

A combing operation has been launched to flush out the Maoist guerrillas from the area, senior superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha said.

He said details of the encounter are awaited.
