Hyderabad city was under a security blanket on the eve of the third anniversary of bomb blast in historic Mecca Masjid as hundreds of armed policemen were deployed in the city to prevent any untoward incident.

The city, shocked by an attack on Friday last killing a police constable, was feeling uneasy as there was intelligence warning that their could be more such attacks on anniversary day.

Not leaving any thing to chance, additional police forces were deployed in and around the city and policemen were searching the vehicles, keeping a close watch on public places and lodges.

Police vehicles were going around the city, making public announcements asking citizens to maintain vigil and look out for any suspicious person or objects. "Additional forces have been deployed in all the sensitive places", said the police commissioner Abdul Khayyum Khan.

What has made the police worried is that despite all the precautionary measures, unknown assailants had succeeded in targeting an unarmed police picket in the heart of old city killing AP Special Police Constable U Ramesh on Friday last.
