DMK, CPI hold seat sharing talks

March 06, 2006 16:10 IST

The seat-sharing agreement between the Communist Party of India and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for the May 8 assembly elections in the state was expected to be finalised in couple of days, CPI state secretary D Pandian said on Monday.

"We expect the talks to conclude in a day or two," he told newsmen, after a 50-minute meeting with the seat sharing negotiation committee of the DMK at the DMK headquarters.

He declined to comment on the expectations of the party on the number of seats, saying it would not be correct to do so when negotiations were on.

Pandian was accompanied by other CPI leaders, including R Nallakannu and C Mahendran. On the DMK side,  treasurer N Veerasamy, M K Stalin and Durai Murugan participated in the talks.
