The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the disqualification of two Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in the Goa Assembly for holding Office of Profit.

The Court dismissed the appeal filed by Dayanand Rayu Mandrekar and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar against the Bombay High Court verdict. A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan delivered the judgment.

While Mandrekar was disqualified for holding the office of Chairman of Khadi Gram Udyog, Arlekar was the Chairman of Goa State Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation Limited.

They were disqualified by the Bombay High Court Verdict of May 27, 2005.
