Mob clashes with police in Bihar; 4 killed

Four persons, including an assistant sub-inspector, were killed in a clash between villagers and police in Rohtas district of Bihar on Monday.

Villagers had attacked the Parsanhua outpost, which falls under the Kochas police station, following the arrest of two persons in connection with power theft, Director General of Police R R Prasad told rediff.com

Sources said one of the villagers had lost an eye in police custody, which led to the attack on the outpost.

"The ASI, Sahabuddin Ansari, was beaten to death by hundreds of villagers," the sources said.

Following this the police opened fire, which led to the death of three villagers.

The injured were taken to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, for treatment.
