A pre-poll survey conducted by the Sahara News Network has projected 140 to 150 seats (26.06 percent) for Samajwadi Party in the upcoming election for the 403-house Uttar Pradesh assembly.
Mulayam Singh Yadav's SP is followed by ruling Bahujan Samaj Party, which will bag 100 to 110 seats (21.48 percent), the survey predicted.
In what is largely seen as a four-cornered battle, the survey also predicted 80 to 90 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (20.67 percent) and 60 to 70 seats (18.48 percent) for the Congress.

The sample size was 2,01,500 which was selected randomly keeping in mind the percentage of population distributed in terms of rural-urban, male, female and different castes and community groups, a statement released by the Sahara News Network said.
"The attempt was to make the sample as representative in character as possible. A total of 25 questions were asked to elicit the opinion of the voters. We believe that the findings of the survey, in all likelihood, will hold true if elections are being held today. We must reiterate that there could be a sampling error of up to 3 per cent," the statement added.
The survey also stated that Mulayam Singh Yadav (26 percent) was the most preferred chief minister, followed by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi (19 percent), senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh (18 percent) and Mayawati (18 percent).
